The Penn State Alumni Association

What’s been happening:

I completed a 30+ year career as an Air Force architect / engineer in 2006, moving every 2 years to places that included Germany, Korea, and Okinawa as well as many states throughout the US. My Penn State education in the graduate AE program paid big dividends many times, especially when I directed the facility energy program for 32 bases in Europe and as a commander - once for a space satellite control installation and later for a 1,600 person Engineer Group in the Pacific. My family especially loved the friendships, clear ocean waters and amazing tropical sunsets of Okinawa. The work hours were often long, some duties were dangerous and the demands on the family were rough, but the challenges were always exceptionally rewarding. Military transition is a more accurate term than retirement for me, as I now support the Department of Defense and Intelligence Community through engineering and construction projects in my position at URS Corporation. Throughout my career, it's been a constant source of pride to follow PSU accomplishments - in research, academics and athletics - especially football and volleyball ('08, '09 women and '08 men national champs).
